Take Five!
    • It's written for a parody of the popular jazz tune by Paul desmond, and Dave Brubeck quartet of the same title.
    My parody is "Magic of Maths" emphasizing the importance of Math in everyday life, work and transactions. This is written out of concern and reaction to a grave and appalling decision by a state governor who exempted Math from minimum grade requirements for HS graduation in his state.
     
    It has very rarely found Time signature of 5/4- five beats of quarter notes in a measure. Perhaps that speaks for its curious interest and distinct rhythm pattern. It is played by a comparatively small Jazz band, with Piano playing a constant rhythm ostinato (a continuously reiterated musical phrase), drums variations of rhythm solo; Bass joining the rhythm section with Piano & drums. The melody is played by clarinet/saxophone.
