This category has a broader meaning and scope in that it includes poems and lyrics which may be easily adapted/reworked as a song; a piece for a recital or simply read as poetry. It is actually written with the intention of using it as the words for a particular musical composition, although the opposite way is the most common practice. One can find the specific reference of it on the title itself pointing to the appropriate musical composition posted on the website.

One major difference between song lyrics & art song is that the song lyrics are too short to convey a comprehensive theme adequately. It may be better achieved through the art song. In the process of the conversion of an 'art song' to lyrics for a song, the cadence (the rhythmic flow of sounds or words), modulation (change in stress, pitch, loudness, tone of the voice or transition of music from one key to another), prosody (distinguishing vocal patterns such as rhythm, speed, pitch, stress, and intonation in speaking, poetry and oratory) may be applied as necessary for the best results and desired effects.

An art song, by definition, is a"song, a piece of music performed by a single voice, with or without instrumental accompaniment. Works for several voices are called duets, trios, and so on; larger ensembles sing choral music. Speech and music have been combined from the earliest times; music heightens the effect of words, allowing them to be rendered with a projection and passion that is difficult to attain in speech alone. Hip-hop/ rap music may be included in this category. It's also a narrative poem.

This is quite similar to the German Lied/Lieder. The art form is particularly liked by poets who are fond of music & songs. It may be considered as the songs of the 'troubadours' or poet-musicians.

It is a "poetry sung with musical accompaniment or simply vocally!"

Here, in this context, the work is done mainly for parody songs of international recognition and popularity, as well as for classical compositions, which are essentially tunes without words, making it difficult for an average listener to memorize them.
