Venuvinte Vilapam     Song Lyrics, Malayalam-The lamentation of little Venu

This is a parody of a German folk song "Beim Kronenwirt" which is about a wedding reception in an old, wooden country hall in the remote Alpine valley. But the Malayalam lyrics is about a different story of a young village boy who lived nearby.
 
Venu lives in the neighboring house behind our family property separated by an irrigation canal. He is an interestingly active boy; always follows his impulse & instincts. He tried his first year in Elementary school for 7 years, but sadly, could not go over the very first hurdle. He is otherwise very talented; he talks to the frog, the cow, and cattle; observes things around; ride buffaloes; enjoy life in his own way.  If he sees a fish, bet on it, he'll have it for a meal soon. He is diligent. He has all the techniques. That's also the cause of his issues with the studies. The exams start when the festive fishing season begins when the water is drained out of the paddy fields for cultivation, in the process trapping schools of fish, lots of them. That's where Venu is going to be.
He didn't want to miss an easy catch!
He grew up fast; also his elder sister. It's time to marry her off. A hard-working, handsome young boy is coming to see her. If he likes her, he sure will marry her soon. It is the responsibility of the parents and brothers that they make all the things look good and in tiptop condition around the house and the surroundings. The dinner feast is an important event to impress the guests. Mother can say, "it's all prepared by her bride-to-be beautiful daughter".
Things should get easier from there on!
The young man is coming today. Venu is tasked with some chores. He had already caught some fish. They are in the frying pan oozing out the appetizing aroma into the neighborhood and beyond.  His mother had prepared ingredients to make chicken curry with potato and onions with special spices in a delicious gravy. Mother is waiting!. The father set out to pluck some ripe yellow banana right off the plant. His younger brother goes to catch his own favorite fish for fish- curry and contribute in a loving gesture to his big sister.  As expected, Venu went straight to the chicken coop; he has yet to catch one.  It was only the beginning of a series of troubling and funny events...... Venu recounts all in his candid tales, feeling sad at the ensuing events. ....poor Venu!
that's why it's a 'lamentation'!
